My hardest patient yet!
I started a patient...that was late, but I was able to get a full mouth of x-rays done and get through the OD and two quads of class II scaling. He has no bone loss, but because his pocket depths are so deep he is a class II. I am using him as an exam, at least 2 quads, but I am more worried about getting my class III requirements. It is bad when you hope that your patients have periodontal disease in order to get requirements ha ha. I already have most of my x-ray requirements and so I am worry free. I am more worried about developing the right skills so that when I do have more difficult patients that I will be efficient and fast in root planing and debriding. Yet I am learning more each clinic session and looking forward to the time when I will have a career. I am planning on doing more schooling...a masters in oral biology and oral pathology and dental hygiene will be a good base for those professions. I want to be a very good hygienist and so I need to spend more time using hand instruments and not ultrasonicing!
