Last Wednesday, I finished my patient who does not have any dental or medical insurance and therefore has never been to a doctor. Even though he is very high pre-hypertensive, I was still able to treat him. I was able to do a full mouth which was very exciting and use him as an exam patient. The one thing that I learned from him relates to classifying my patient...even though he didn't have any bone loss, he had a lot of calculus and deep pockets on his mandible and so I was able to classify him as a class 2! I still need more patients that are class 2...I am getting so many 1Bs. But I have learned a ton!
I also was able to clean two children in one appointment and so I cleaned 8 quads and did bitewings. I felt very rushed to get everything done and there was so much paperwork, but I was able to get so much done! I learned how to treat children at the age of 4 and 9 and it went very smoothly, probably because they were both very cooperative. I am so glad that I am getting my requirements, but I am most worried about getting the full mouths done.
