Mock Boards!!

My patient came in for mockboards and I was very nervous that she was not going to be able to qualify. She ended up qualifying very easily, which took off some stress. I was very comfortable and confident with the cleaning, but as it turned out I missed 4 tiny spots which ended up in a failing grade if it would have been the real board. The areas that I missed were burnished calculus that I had a really hard time feeling. I was very frustrated because the areas were smaller than what i could feel. I ended up recieving a 74 and passing is a 75. Yet I am okay with how I performed because for the first mockboard it is normal to miss a few areas of calculus. I still am confident in my scaling, but I did need to be humbled a little by the experience. I now know better what kind of patient to bring in and what to expect for the next mockboard in the spring.
